PEOPLE interested in making their own jewellery are invited to attend a free demonstration at a Somerset garden centre this month (February, 2010). The Craft Centre at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre, which is located just off the A38 at Monkton Heathfield between Bridgwater and Taunton, will host a complimentary beginner’s jewellery demonstration on Saturday, February 27.
Miranda McPherson, Craft Centre Supervisor, explained: “Gail Macrow, who is a Monkton Elm Craft Centre team member, will be hosting the event. Gail, who is a bead enthusiast, will show people the basics of jewellery making.
“Gail will also advise people on what tools to use, which wires are the best and how to choose beads. This demonstration is a great opportunity for beginners who want to find out all about the basics of jewellery making. Those who wish to attend the free session can book a place now by calling the Craft Centre on 01823 412381.”
The specialist Craft Centre was created to serve the needs of the area’s keen and potential bead crafters, card-makers, scrapbookers, cross stitchers, canvas embroiderers and knitters.
The Centre stocks everything from card-making kits to wool and has a programme of free demonstrations. There are also paid workshops, where people can get hands-on craft experience.
The jewellery demonstration will take place at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre’s Craft Centre from 2pm until 4pm on Saturday, February 27. If you wish to book a place for the demonstration or if you want to find out about wheelchair access at the Craft Centre, please call the garden centre.
