WILDLIFE lovers in Somerset are being invited to attend an event taking place at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre in Taunton this and next month (July and August, 2010).
Staff from Exmoor Zoo will be at the garden centre as part of its Wildlife Weekend on Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1 to give visitors the chance to learn more about the conservation of British wildlife.
Stephen Eddy, Education Officer at Exmoor Zoo, said: “Our team from Exmoor Zoo will be hosting a range of activities aimed at educating visitors about how they can help our wildlife and environment.
“2010 has been declared the International Year of Biodiversity so we will be helping customers learn all about how to encourage biodiversity in their own gardens. It can be as simple as putting up a nest box.
“There will also be a workshop for children to make a bottle garden rainforest out of recycled material. We will be focusing on the importance of recycling and talking to visitors about how they can do their bit to help the environment.”
The Exmoor Zoo Wildlife Weekend takes place at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre, which is located just off the intersection between the A38 and A361 in Monkton Heathfield, on Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1 from 11am until 4.30pm.
Norma Moore, General Manager at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre, said: “We are delighted that representatives from Exmoor Zoo are coming along for the weekend. It promises to be a fun event for all the family.”
