A REPRESENTATIVE from Parkinson’s UK will be at a Taunton garden centre this month (July, 2010) to raise awareness of the organisation.

Regional Fundraiser for the South West, Jean Almond will be at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre at Monkton Heathfield on July 24 and 25 to chat to visitors about the charity.

General Manager of the family-run garden centre, Norma Moore said: “We’re thrilled to be supporting Parkinson’s UK with this event.

“Jean will be happy to answer any questions about the charity. She will also be bringing information about Parkinson’s UK branches in the local area and merchandise from the charity, as well as handing out free information leaflets, while stocks last.

“Parkinson’s UK is very close to our heart and we try to support it wherever possible. Earlier this year (2010) we were able to present the charity with a cheque for £200, which was collected during a children’s wildlife hunt at the garden centre.”

Parkinson’s UK provides information and support for people suffering from Parkinson’s, their families and carers through its nationwide team.

The charity, which has been established for more than 40 years, aims to change attitudes, find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.

Jean added: “I’m delighted to be going along to Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre to raise awareness of Parkinson’s UK. I hope that lots of people come along to find out more about this little-understood condition.”

Jean will be at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet, which is located just off the A38 at Monkton Heathfield near Taunton, on Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25 from 10.30am until 4.30pm.
