Members of the Club held at the Craft Centre at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre near Taunton have knitted the items for babies born at Yeovil District Hospital.

Miranda McPherson, Craft Centre Supervisor, said: “We were delighted to be able to donate so many knitted items to the baby unit at Yeovil District Hospital. At our Knit and Crochet Club, which we host every first and third Wednesday of each month, we like to help charities and organisations.”

The Knit and Crochet Club is held in the workshop area of the Craft Centre from 4.30pm until 7pm. Each session costs £3 per person and this includes tea, coffee and biscuits.

The Craft Centre provides the wool, knitting patterns and also needles for people to borrow.

Lorraine Slack, Neonatal Sister at Yeovil District Hospital, said: “We would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to the Knit and Crochet Club at the Craft Centre at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre for donating so many blankets, hats and cardigans to the premature baby unit.

“The items are beautiful and will keep the babies in our care very warm.”

Everyone is welcome to the Knit and Crochet Club, whether you are a complete novice or a knitting or crochet enthusiast. The Craft Centre team members will be on hand at each session to offer advice.

Miranda added: “People who come along to the evenings can bring a project they may be knitting at that moment in time.”
