SOMERSET folk were invited to celebrate National Insect Week (June 21 until 27, 2010) and also try some artisan breads for free at an Open Evening at a garden centre in the county last Thursday (June 24, 2010).
Representatives from Exmoor Zoo took a selection of bugs to Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre at Monkton Heathfield near Taunton on Thursday, June 24 as part of the garden centre’s Open Evening.
Norma Moore, General Manager of the award-winning, family-run garden centre, said: “During the event people were able to sample for free some bread from the award-winning Hobbs House Bakery in Chipping Sodbury, Bristol.
“Hobbs House Bakery can chart five generations of bakers from the same family, from early 20th Century roots in Gloucestershire right through to Tom Herbert, Sales Director and father of four aspiring, potentially sixth generation bakers. Tom and the Bakery have appeared on numerous radio and television shows and in lots of national newspapers and magazines.
“To link in with National Insect Week, which ran from June 21 until 27, we were also joined by representatives from Exmoor Zoo, who had a host of creepy crawlies on display in our Pet & Repti
le Department.”
