SOMERSET folk who need help selecting and wrapping a gift for their mum this Mother’s Day (March, 2010) are being invited to a garden centre in the county.
Staff at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre at Monkton Heathfield are offering visitors complimentary advice and ideas on gardening-related presents for their mums and a free gift-wrapping service on any potted plants bought in-store on Saturday, March 13 and Mothering Sunday, March 14.
Norma Moore, General Manager of the family-run garden centre, said: “Mum’s deserve to be looked after too so we’ve made sure that we’ve got everything to make this Mother’s Day extra special.
“We have lots of gifts on offer and a wide selection of potted plants, including orchids, azalias, jasmines, begonias and planted baskets, which we can gift-wrap for free. A potted plant makes a lovely present so if life has got in the way and you’ve not managed to pick up a gift for your Mum yet they’ll be plenty of opportunity on the day.”
The free gift-wrapping service applies to potted plants only and is available on Saturday, March 13 and Sunday, March 14.
Norma added: “We are also putting on a fantastic menu in our restaurant on Mothering Sunday, March 14 so that you can treat mum to a meal of good home-made cooking without all the hassle.
“People hungry for a traditional Sunday roast can tuck into tender roast beef with Yorkshire puddings and succulent chicken breast with a variety of seasonal vegetables. There will also be a vegetarian option available too. All main courses cost £6.99 per person.
“For those with a sweet tooth we’ll be serving up a special Mothering Sunday afternoon tea. You’ll be able to indulge mum with a delicious tea for two, which consists of a platter of home-made cakes including carrot, chocolate, sticky lemon and coffee and walnut and two cups of traditional English breakfast tea. Tea for two costs £4.99.”
